About the Service
6 questions
Is Japan Toll Receipts the official ETC usage inquiry service?
No. Japan Toll Receipts is an independent report automation platform. We are not the official ETC usage inquiry service (ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI)), NEXCO, or a toll road operator. We are a time-saving automation tool for drivers.
What does Japan Toll Receipts do?
We deliver authorized ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) toll information as organized reports straight to your email. This saves you from manually logging into MEISAI each time.
Does Japan Toll Receipts collect toll payments?
No. We never collect toll payments or unpaid toll charges. We only deliver reports.
Who can use this service?
Any ETC user in Japan — Japanese drivers, foreign residents, military/SOFA personnel, businesses, contractors, and anyone who needs organized toll records.
Is this the same as JapanETCcard.com?
No. Japan Toll Receipts focuses on automated ETC toll report delivery. JapanETCcard.com provides ETC card services. Both are operated by NoJo Enterprise, Co. Ltd. but are separate services.
Why is JapanETCcard.com experience important?
JapanETCcard.com gives our team practical experience with ETC card users, billing questions, vehicle registration issues, and customer support needs in Japan. JTR builds on that experience to make ETC usage reporting easier to manage.
Early Access Program
5 questions
What is the Early Access Program?
A limited window for customers to join Japan Toll Receipts before public launch. It used to be called the "Founder Program" — we renamed it to "Early Access Program" (先行利用プログラム in Japanese) because that phrase reads more naturally for Japanese customers. The benefits、perks、and Early Access pricing are identical.
How is Early Access different from public launch?
Early Access members get four things the public launch will not offer: (1) 1-Year Premium completely free, no credit card; (2) Early Access pricing — after the trial, your account automatically moves to Free Weekly and any paid upgrade is optional; (3) A direct line to the product team for feedback; (4) Priority on new feature requests throughout the year. Your Early Access pricing stays in effect as long as the account remains active and in good standing.
How many Early Access spots are available?
The first 100,000 Early Access members — one shared pool across all account types (Personal, Business, and Government). The header "Live Tracker" shows the remaining count in real time. Your account type determines which features you can use, not how many spots are consumed.
How long does my Early Access pricing last?
As long as the account remains active and in good standing, your Early Access pricing stays in effect under the program terms.
Can I still sign up? Are spots still open?
Yes, while spots remain. Spots are counted per Early Access member (one shared pool of the first 100,000 members). Pricing itself is based on the number of active tracked ETC cards you choose.
1-Year Premium Free Trial
9 questions
What perks come with the Early Access Program?
As a thank-you for trying us out before public launch, Early Access members get four early-access perks: (1) 1-Year Premium completely free — no credit card, no obligation, no risk; (2) Early Access pricing — after the trial, your account automatically moves to Free Weekly and any paid upgrade is optional; (3) A direct line to the team — your feedback shapes the product; (4) New features ship throughout the year with your requests prioritized. After the 1-year trial, your account auto-downgrades to Free Weekly unless you choose to upgrade.
What is the 1-year premium free trial?
New users get full access to all Premium Daily Plus features for 1 year — daily, weekly, and monthly reports with PDF, CSV, email language customization. No credit card required. The 1-year clock starts only when your first report containing actual toll usage is delivered (not at registration, not at email verification, not at ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) connection).
When does the 1-year clock start?
Not at registration. Not at email verification. Not when ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) is connected. The 1-year premium trial begins only when your first report containing actual toll usage (≥1 trip) is delivered. Empty / no-usage reports do not start the clock — there is no rush to register.
What happens after 1 year?
You automatically switch to the free weekly plan. Since no credit card is on file, there are no automatic charges. If you want to continue with Premium Daily Plus, you can upgrade anytime.
Do I need to cancel before the trial ends?
No. You do nothing and it automatically switches to the free plan after 1 year. No cancellation or contact required.
Can I upgrade during the trial?
Yes. You can upgrade to Premium Daily Plus at any time during or after the trial.
When does enrollment for the 1-Year Premium Trial close?
New enrollments stay open through December 31, 2027 — roughly 17 months from now (Feb 2026). There is no rush. Anyone who joins on or before Dec 31, 2027 still gets the full 1-year Premium Trial, even if they enroll on the very last day.
Why does enrollment close on Dec 31, 2027?
It is the cutoff that lets us fully test, refine, and prepare the platform alongside the people actually using it before the public launch. Everyone who enrolls inside the window is guaranteed a full 1-year trial — by closing enrollment on Dec 31, 2027 we ensure the last trial ends cleanly on Dec 31, 2028, with no one cut short.
What happens on January 1, 2029?
Every 1-year free trial has ended by Dec 31, 2028. From Jan 1, 2029 onward, every account is either on a paid plan or on the Free Weekly Premium plan. Because no credit card is required during the trial, accounts without a card on file simply auto-downgrade to the Free Weekly Premium plan — no surprise charges.
How Pricing Works (per ETC card)
5 questions
What unit is pricing based on?
Pricing is based on the number of ETC cards you track. Personal: ¥300 first card + ¥250 each additional (up to 10). Organization (Business / Government): ¥1,980/month includes 5 cards, +¥250 (6–500), +¥200 (501+), up to 60,000 cards. All before tax; 10% consumption tax added.
How does this relate to the ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI)?
"MEISAI" is the external ETC usage inquiry service; one MEISAI login holds up to 10 ETC cards. JTR manages this underlying connection structure for you automatically — you just choose how many cards to track.
What if I have more than 10 ETC cards?
Personal caps at 10 cards. For 11+ cards, use the Business or Government Organization plan (up to 60,000 cards), where multiple MEISAI connections roll up under one organization for consolidated admin.
What if I add or remove cards mid-month?
Billing is based on the number of active tracked ETC cards that month. Mid-cycle changes auto-flow into the next monthly invoice.
What is a "spot" in the Live Tracker?
One spot = one Early Access member (one account signup). Early Access shares a single pool of 100,000 members across all account types, and the header Live Tracker shows the live remaining count.
Reports
9 questions
Are the PDF and CSV attachments bilingual (English + Japanese)?
No. The PDF and CSV attachments are the original NEXCO / ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) documents — they are always in Japanese. We do not modify or translate them. What we do translate is the email body itself: based on your language setting, JTR extracts your drives, tolls, and totals into a clean English (or Japanese) summary. So: attachments stay Japanese (NEXCO originals), email body summary is bilingual based on your preference.
How many files do I receive per day?
Two PDFs and one CSV every day. All three are official NEXCO / ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) documents in Japanese. There is no Excel (.xlsx) file — the CSV opens natively in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or any text editor.
Is the report an Excel file?
No, there is no Excel (.xlsx) file. You receive two PDFs and one CSV. The CSV opens cleanly in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet tool, so you can use it like a spreadsheet without us shipping a separate .xlsx.
How often are reports sent?
Free plan: weekly reports. Premium Daily Plus: daily, weekly, and monthly reports. You can customize the schedule for each ETC card individually.
Can I choose the language of my report emails?
Yes. You can receive email summaries in Japanese or English. Change anytime in your settings. The PDF attachments from ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) are in Japanese, but the email body with totals and summaries will be in your chosen language.
What is included in each report?
An email summary (totals, trip count, period), a PDF usage certificate, a PDF detailed breakdown (with discounts), and an CSV file — up to 3 attachments per report.
Can I request custom reports?
Yes. Premium Daily Plus includes unlimited custom period report requests.
How far back can records go?
ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) retains about 15 months of data. With Premium Daily Plus, reports arrive automatically by email, so your data is preserved beyond the 15-month limit.
Can I set different schedules for each ETC card?
Yes. You can set daily, weekly, or monthly schedules for each card individually. If daily is too frequent for one card, just set it to weekly. Report frequency is completely up to you.
ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) Connection & Account Security
9 questions
What does connecting my ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account mean?
You authorize Japan Toll Receipts to deliver your authorized MEISAI information through a secure setup process and pass-through report delivery. Your MEISAI account remains entirely yours — your email, your password, your control.
How are my credentials handled?
Your connection details (ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) email and related connection information) are securely encrypted and linked to your account so our automation can continue the authorized MEISAI setup, maintain the connection, and deliver your reports. All traffic is encrypted and email addresses are masked in the dashboard. Enter verification codes only inside the secure setup screen — never send codes to staff by email or chat.
What happens if I change my ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) password?
Report delivery will pause until you complete the secure setup process again with the updated password. This is by design — you remain in full control of your MEISAI account at all times.
What happens if I change my ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) email?
The connection will pause, same as a password change. You will need to reconnect with the new details to resume report delivery.
Will Japan Toll Receipts ever modify my ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account?
Never. Our setup process only follows the steps you authorize. We will never add, delete, or modify ETC cards on your MEISAI account, and we will never change your email or password.
Can I disconnect at any time?
Yes. You can disconnect your ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) connection from the dashboard at any time. After disconnection, related MEISAI information held by us is permanently removed.
Can I see when my account was accessed?
Yes. The dashboard shows connection dates, validation status, and report delivery history.
I can't connect to ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI). How do I reach the official MEISAI helpdesk?
The MEISAI helpdesk runs every day from 9:00–18:00 JST. Navi-dial: 0570-001069. If Navi-dial is unavailable: 045-477-1262. Official site: https://www.etc-meisai.jp/. You can also email JTR support (support@japantollreceipts.jp) any time — we will walk you through the helpdesk call or relay your situation to MEISAI on your behalf.
What if I forget my MEISAI User ID or password?
Start with the "Recover MEISAI Access" modal inside your dashboard — it handles both the "forgot User ID" and "forgot password" tracks. MEISAI's own recovery forms also require the registered email plus your Secret Question + Answer (秘密の質問と答え). If you do not remember the secret answer, MEISAI does not allow online recovery — you must call the MEISAI helpdesk (0570-001069 or 045-477-1262, daily 9:00–18:00 JST). JTR support is happy to help you make that call.
Setup
3 questions
What if I don't have a ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account?
We can help you register. You will need your ETC card number, onboard unit number, and vehicle plate number (last 4 digits).
What if I already have a ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account?
Just click "Connect MEISAI" and enter your login details. Your existing account connects directly and automated reports begin.
How long does setup take?
If you have an existing ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account, connection takes just a few minutes. If you need a new MEISAI registration, card verification can take up to 4 hours.
Billing & Plans
12 questions
When exactly is a credit card required?
Never, unless you choose to upgrade after your 1-Year Premium Trial ends. The exact rule: no credit card during the trial; no credit card on the Free Weekly plan ever; a credit card is only required if — after the trial — you decide to continue on Personal Premium, Business, or Government & Public-Sector. "Card" here always means the credit card used for payment, not the ETC card you drive with.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You can start the 1-year premium trial without entering a credit card. If you do not choose a paid plan after the trial, your account automatically switches to the Free Weekly plan.
What happens after the 1-year premium trial?
If you do not choose a paid plan, your account simply moves to the Free Weekly plan. You can continue receiving weekly reports with no credit card, no obligation, and no contract.
Can I keep using the service for free?
Yes. The Free Weekly plan remains available for customers who only need basic weekly report delivery.
How is Personal pricing calculated?
You pay for the ETC cards you track, shown before tax. The first card is ¥300/month and each additional card is ¥250/month, up to 10 cards. 10% consumption tax is added and the tax-included total is shown. e.g. 3 cards ¥800 (¥880 incl.), 10 cards ¥2,550 (¥2,805 incl.). There is no annual plan or 5-Year Pass.
Can I cancel daily reports (Daily Plus) anytime?
Yes. Paid Personal Premium (Daily Plus) can be cancelled anytime. After cancelling, your account returns to the no-credit-card Free Weekly plan automatically.
Can I get a refund because I am unhappy?
You get a full 1-Year Premium Trial to evaluate before choosing a paid plan. After the trial, you are only billed for the months you actually use.
Can I get a refund if I leave Japan?
Pricing is monthly — cancel and future months stop billing. Leaving Japan, selling a vehicle, or no longer driving simply means you cancel and incur no further charges.
What happens if ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) changes its system?
We will try to adapt, provide updated instructions, or offer a reasonable replacement where available.
Do I get a refund for temporary outages?
No. Temporary outages and maintenance do not automatically qualify for refunds. We will retry delivery or restore service.
How many ETC cards can I use?
Personal supports up to 10 ETC cards per account. For larger card counts, use the Business or Government Organization plans.
Is this an official NEXCO or ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) service?
No. Japan Toll Receipts is not NEXCO and is not the official MEISAI website.
Business · Government · Public-Sector Pricing
5 questions
How much do Business and Government plans cost?
Organization pricing is per active tracked ETC card, before tax. ¥1,980/month includes up to 5 cards; cards 6–500 add ¥250 each; cards above 500 add ¥200 each — up to 60,000 cards. 10% consumption tax is added on top. JTR manages the underlying MEISAI connection structure for you. e.g. 5 cards ¥1,980 (¥2,178 incl.), 300 cards ¥75,730 (¥83,303 incl.).
Is the price different for Government & Public-Sector vs Business?
No. Business and Government use the same Organization pricing. The two tracks are different marketing surfaces for the same underlying JTR technology and identical pricing.
Is there a volume discount at scale?
Yes. Cards above 500 drop from ¥250 to ¥200 each automatically (cards 6–500 are ¥250; the first 5 are included in the ¥1,980 base). Billing is per tracked ETC card — not per account.
Is there a free trial for Business?
Yes. A 1-Year Premium Trial with no credit card required. During the trial you can onboard unlimited organization scale; after the trial, continue with Early Access pricing.
How is the bill calculated?
After the 1-Year Premium Trial, monthly billing is based on the number of active tracked ETC cards that month. Card count changes are reflected in the next month’s invoice automatically.
Registered Vehicle Monitoring & Possible-Mismatch Review
6 questions
What is Registered Vehicle Monitoring?
You maintain a list of approved vehicles for each ETC card. JTR’s daily report compares actual toll activity against that list and flags possible unapproved use for review. Built for business, government, and public-sector fleets.
Will JTR auto-block the ETC card?
Never. JTR is an awareness layer — it surfaces possible unapproved use and routes it to a review queue. The decision is always made by a human reviewer.
Does the report say "confirmed fraud"?
No. We use "possible" / "needs review" wording only. We never write "confirmed fraud" in customer-facing output.
How does the plate matching work?
JTR cannot read plate type directly from ETC — ETC利用照会サービス(MEISAI) only gives the last 4 digits of the plate. JTR matches those last 4 against your Registered Vehicle Registry to guess the plate family (ordinary / commercial / kei / official / civilian). See the "Plate Type vs Last-4" FAQ.
What alerts can fire?
Examples: ETC card used by a non-registered vehicle, out-of-assigned-group use, unusual hours, weekend / holiday usage, route inconsistencies, or use by an unregistered vehicle. Full list on /features/authorized-vehicle-monitoring.
Who makes the final call?
A human reviewer always decides. Every decision is captured in an audit log along with the reviewer’s identity.
ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) Connection Health
5 questions
What is ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) Connection Health?
JTR runs a daily heartbeat on every linked MEISAI account and alerts the admin the same day a connection breaks — before the next report is missed. Keeps every linked account active.
What does "Branch B Account" mean — is it a separate ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) branch?
No. Those are your own labels for separate MEISAI logins. Every linked account hits the same MEISAI website — the labels are just so your admin can tell them apart in the dashboard. One JTR organization can hold many MEISAI accounts.
Does ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) use two-factor authentication (2FA)?
No. MEISAI does not currently use 2FA. The protection MEISAI provides is the CAPTCHA on login, which JTR’s automation already handles for you.
What happens when a ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) password expires?
JTR identifies the specific account that’s offline and emails the admin the same day. Once your team refreshes the password (or whatever the underlying issue is), JTR resumes automatically on the next cycle.
Does an outage affect billing?
No. Billing is per active ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account per month. The early-warning is designed to prevent missed reports in the first place.
3-Track Architecture (Personal · Business · Government & Public-Sector)
3 questions
What are the differences between Personal, Business, and Government & Public-Sector?
Same underlying JTR technology, presented through 3 audience-tailored marketing tracks. Personal = automation for individual drivers. Business = multi-vehicle oversight. Government & Public-Sector = review-ready oversight wording. The features and platform are shared.
Is the Government plan restricted to actual government agencies?
No. It is a marketing track, not a credential check. Functionally it’s the same as Business — only the wording and emphasis are tailored to oversight, audit readiness, and record handling history concerns.
Can I switch tracks later?
Yes. Plans and cadence can be changed any time from the dashboard.
Plate Type vs Last-4
3 questions
Can JTR read plate type directly from ETC?
No. ETC利用照会サービス(MEISAI) only exposes the last 4 digits of the plate. JTR matches those last 4 against your Registered Vehicle Registry to guess the plate type (ordinary / commercial / kei / official / civilian).
What if the guess is wrong?
If multiple vehicles in your registry could share the same last-4, JTR flags the trip for human review. We never auto-confirm.
How is plate-family recognition set up?
You enter full plate identifiers (e.g. 300-Y-5555) into the Registered Vehicle Registry. JTR then maps each trip’s last-4 back to the most likely registered vehicle. Details: /features/authorized-vehicle-registry.
Product Tour & UI
3 questions
What is the product tour?
A horizontal 10-slide interactive walkthrough embedded on the key marketing pages. Each slide has 2–4 short bullet points and you can choose playback speed (1× / 2× / 3×).
Can I change the tour playback speed?
Yes. The speed button in the top-right of the tour cycles through 1× → 2× → 3×. Your choice is saved in your browser.
Does the tour respect "reduce motion" settings?
Yes. We honor the OS-level prefers-reduced-motion setting and disable heavy animations when it’s active.
About JTR AI
5 questions
What AI does JTR use?
JTR AI is a proprietary pipeline combining our own processes and prompt design. The underlying model name is internal — we do not name the vendor or version in customer-facing copy.
Does the AI confirm fraud automatically?
No. The AI only surfaces possible patterns with "possible" / "needs review" wording. A human reviewer always decides the outcome.
Does my data get sent to the AI?
Toll data flows through a retrieve-and-deliver pipeline — the AI inference runs, the report is generated, and the live data is then discarded. There is no long-term retention.
Is Japan Toll Receipts an AI company?
JTR uses AI, but it is not just an AI tool. It is an ETC reporting workflow service that combines official-source document handling, report automation, bilingual communication, reimbursement support, and AI-assisted review.
Does AI decide whether usage is unauthorized or fraudulent?
No. AI may help surface usage records that may need review, but it does not make final misuse, tax, legal, or accounting determinations. Customers and their organizations should review the records before taking action.
