Core Policy
Japan Toll Receipts offers a 1-year premium free trial so customers can test the service before choosing a paid plan. Customers who do not need Daily Plus can continue using the Free Weekly plan with no credit card, no obligation, and no paid contract.
Paid plans are billed monthly and you are charged only for the months you use. Already-completed billing months are not normally refundable simply because the customer changes their mind, leaves Japan, no longer drives, no longer needs the service, is unhappy after the trial period, or chooses not to continue using the service.
However, if Japan Toll Receipts permanently stops offering the core paid Daily Plus service and cannot provide a reasonable replacement, customers with unused paid time may be eligible for a fair pro-rated account credit or refund for unused full months remaining.
Third-Party System Dependencies
Japan Toll Receipts depends on third-party systems, including the ETC Usage Inquiry Service website, email delivery providers, hosting providers, payment providers, browser automation tools, and internet access. These systems may change, restrict access, require new verification steps, experience maintenance, or become temporarily unavailable.
If MEISAI or another required third-party system changes in a way that affects automation, Japan Toll Receipts will make reasonable efforts to adapt the system, restore report delivery, provide alternative instructions, or use a reasonable replacement method when available.
A third-party change does not automatically create a refund right. If the change permanently prevents Japan Toll Receipts from providing the core paid Daily Plus service and no reasonable replacement is available, the Service Continuity and Fair Refund Policy may apply.
Replacement Solution Timeline
If a third-party change prevents Japan Toll Receipts from delivering the core paid Daily Plus service, we will first make reasonable efforts to restore or replace the affected automation.
Where practical, Japan Toll Receipts may:
- ▸ Investigate the issue
- ▸ Update the automation tools
- ▸ Provide customer instructions
- ▸ Offer an alternative report delivery method
- ▸ Extend paid access
- ▸ Provide account credit
- ▸ Cancel future renewals
- ▸ Offer a pro-rated refund if the core paid service cannot reasonably continue
| Period | Action |
|---|---|
| First 7 days | Investigate, retry, monitor, and communicate where appropriate |
| 8 to 30 days | Continue restoration. Consider service extension or credit if a core paid feature remains unavailable |
| 31 to 90 days | Attempt a reasonable replacement or alternative method if available |
| After 90 days | If service cannot reasonably be restored or replaced, may treat the affected paid service as materially discontinued and offer pro-rated credit or refund for unused full months remaining |
The 90-day timeline is for major service dependency failure, not ordinary maintenance or customer-specific problems.
Conditions Where Refunds Are Not Normally Provided
Because the 1-year premium trial is provided so customers can test the service first, and paid plans are billed monthly, already-completed billing months are not normally refundable because a customer later decides they are unhappy, leaves Japan, stops driving, or no longer needs the service.
- ✕ Customer simply being unhappy after choosing a paid plan
- ✕ Customer leaving Japan
- ✕ Customer selling the vehicle
- ✕ Customer no longer driving
- ✕ Customer no longer needing reports
- ✕ Customer choosing the wrong plan after the trial
- ✕ Customer failing to complete ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) setup
- ✕ Customer providing incorrect ETC card, vehicle, unit, date, or login information
- ✕ Customer losing access to their email or ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account
- ✕ ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) account already being registered elsewhere
- ✕ Customer-side internet, device, browser, or email issues
- ✕ Short temporary outages
- ✕ Routine maintenance
- ✕ Individual failed reports that are later retried or recoverable
- ✕ Account suspension for abuse, fraud, chargeback abuse, or Terms violations
Plan-Specific Cancellation Rules
Daily Plus Monthly
Can be cancelled anytime. Cancelling stops future monthly renewals. Access normally continues through the current paid billing period. Partial-month refunds are not normally provided unless required by law, caused by a billing error, or separately approved by Japan Toll Receipts.
Organization Plans (Business / Government)
Organization plans are billed monthly based on the number of active tracked ETC cards. You can cancel anytime; cancelling stops future monthly billing. Refunds for already-completed billing months are not normally provided simply because the customer changes their mind, leaves Japan, stops driving, or no longer needs the service. A pro-rated credit or refund may apply only under the Service Continuity and Fair Refund Policy if Japan Toll Receipts permanently cannot provide the core paid service and cannot provide a reasonable replacement.
Pro-Rated Refund Formula
If approved under this policy, the credit or refund may be calculated using unused full months remaining.
Refund = Amount paid × Unused full months remaining ÷ Total plan months
Personal Daily Plus: Monthly (¥300 first card + ¥250 each additional, up to 10). Refunds are based on unused full months remaining.
Organization (Business / Gov): Monthly (from ¥1,980, priced per tracked ETC card). Refunds are based on unused full months remaining.
Whole-yen rounding. Refunds for partial days are not promised. Automatic refunds for temporary outages are not provided.
Customer Protection Promise
We want long-term customers to feel safe. The 1-year premium trial lets you test Daily Plus before choosing a paid plan. If you do not choose a paid plan, your account simply moves to Free Weekly with no credit card, no obligation, and no contract. Paid plans are billed monthly and already-completed billing months are not normally refundable just because a customer changes their mind, leaves Japan, or no longer needs the service. However, if Japan Toll Receipts permanently stops offering the core paid Daily Plus service and cannot provide a reasonable replacement, we may provide a fair pro-rated account credit or refund for unused full months remaining.
