How to spot real vs fake emails
Use the checklist below to judge whether an ETC- or ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI)-related email is legitimate or a likely scam.
Section 02
Side-by-side: real email vs scam

If you already clicked: 5-step recovery
Clicking a phishing link doesn't have to mean a breach — the steps below sharply reduce damage if you act fast.
- 1
Immediately change the password of any account where you entered credentials (including your JTR account if applicable).
- 2
If you entered card details, call your card issuer right away to freeze and reissue the card.
- 3
Run a virus scan on the device you used, and review browser extensions, installed apps, and saved settings for anything unfamiliar.
- 4
If you see suspicious activity on your JTR account, email support@japantollreceipts.jp. We can review and, if needed, temporarily suspend the account.
- 5
In Japan, report the incident via the National Police Agency cybercrime consultation line, or your local police station's cyber unit.

Frequently asked
I received a suspicious email about ETC. What should I do?▾
Type the official ETC service URL (https://www.etc-meisai.jp/) directly into your browser. Do not click suspicious links. Japan Toll Receipts is an independent third-party service — separate from the official ETC Inquiry Service.
Is Japan Toll Receipts safe?▾
Credentials are stored using industry-standard encryption (AES-256-grade), and passwords are never kept in plain text. You can disconnect your ETC Usage Inquiry Service (MEISAI) link any time, and request account suspension or data deletion with one click from your dashboard.
How do I tell real Japan Toll Receipts emails from fake ones?▾
Real emails come only from the @japantollreceipts.jp domain. We never email about "unpaid tolls", "urgent payment", or "account suspension" — we do not collect tolls and never bill in that way.
I entered credit-card details into a phishing site. What now?▾
Contact your card issuer's 24/7 emergency line immediately to freeze and reissue the card. Then report the incident to your local police cybercrime unit.
I received a "your JTR account will be suspended" email — is it real?▾
Almost certainly not. Japan Toll Receipts does not unilaterally suspend accounts (unless you have explicitly asked us to, or our Terms have been breached). Check the sender address — and when in doubt, log in directly via japantollreceipts.jp instead of clicking any email link.
